Communal Water System Optimization Study

Client: Ontario Clean Water Agency
Date: 2011

Cambium was engaged by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) to review the Pottery Drinking Water System and Miller Drinking Water System; two communal drinking water systems servicing residents within the community of Brougham located on the Pickering Lands Site. OCWA was acting as the operating authority for both the Pottery and Miller communal drinking water systems, on behalf of the owner of the system, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

The purpose of the review was to gather sufficient information in order to provide recommendations for the optimization of water servicing to the residents connected to the two systems. The recommendations for treatment and supply were provided by Cambium within a summary report in consideration of the Province of Ontario legislation and regulation including the Safe Drinking Water Act, Ontario Regulation 170/03, and the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standards Objectives and Guidelines (ODWS). Both the Pottery and Miller Drinking Water Systems would most appropriately be classified as non-municipal year-round residential systems under Ontario legislation.
