Geotechnical and Hydrogeological Investigations for Condominium Parking

Cambium was retained by a residential development client to provide Geotechnical and Hydrogeological investigations to support the building of the proposed 12-storey condominium with 3 levels of underground parking and above ground parking.

Borehole Drilling

Borehole drilling to confirm soil conditions and a monitoring well to support the hydrogeological assessment—saving the client extra mobilization costs.

Cambium’s Geotechnical investigation comprised of:

  • A borehole investigation using Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), in accordance with ASTM D1586, to collect soil samples and confirm soil conditions. Mud rotary techniques were utilized in one of the boreholes to reach deeper target depths thereby providing the client with an informed report. One borehole was outfitted with a monitoring well to support the hydrogeological assessment in conjunction. This saved the client the cost of multiple drill mobilizations.

  • Laboratory soil testing including Particle Size Distribution analyses and Natural Moisture Content Analyses to confirm soil texture and classification and asses their geotechnical parameters.

  • A Geotechnical report outlining borehole investigation findings, as well as recommendations for excavation considerations, dewatering and foundation design.

  • A Hydrogeological report outlining groundwater flow direction, assess environmental features, drainage,, well records assessment and construction dewatering recommendations. Hydrogeological report consisted of results from In-situ Hydraulic conductivity testing.

With Cambium’s extensive list of service lines Cambium was able to provide various reports to the client for this multi-service line project including a Geotechnical report and investigation, Hydrogeological report and investigation.
