Municipal Class EA for Meyers Pier: Designing Belleville’s Future Waterfront
Cambium is supporting the City of Belleville in undertaking a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) and Preliminary Design Study for Meyers Pier. The goal is to develop a long-term, sustainable solution that enhances the site’s functionality as a vibrant, multi-use waterfront destination. The project aims to support tourism, recreation, and economic development while addressing aging infrastructure and environmental concerns.
Cambium is leading a Schedule C Environmental Assessment for Meyers Pier to create a sustainable, multi-use waterfront destination that balances tourism, recreation, and environmental stewardship.
As the lead consultant, Cambium is managing the MCEA process, which includes evaluating a range of design alternatives for the marina and shoreline. These alternatives consider expanded docking facilities, improved pedestrian access, and enhanced public amenities. Environmental impacts on water quality, aquatic habitat, cultural heritage, and land use compatibility are being carefully assessed.
Public and stakeholder engagement is central to the EA process. Cambium has and will continue to facilitate public information centres, online surveys, and direct consultations with Indigenous communities, residents, and regulatory agencies. Feedback gathered through these channels will inform the selection of a preferred design concept that balances environmental stewardship with community and economic priorities.
Throughout 2025, Cambium has completed a suite of technical studies to support the EA, including ecological assessments, geotechnical investigations, soil and sediment sampling, hydrogeological evaluations, shoreline analyses, servicing reviews, and economic reviews.
The final EA report, scheduled for submission in 2027, will present the preferred alternative and a phased implementation strategy designed to minimize disruption and ensure long-term sustainability.
Through this initiative, Cambium will support the City of Belleville realize a transformative waterfront vision that aligns with provincial environmental planning requirements and community aspirations.
